Thomas George Rudman, second Baron Welby (7 March 1867–20 April 1936) was an English aristocrat and land owner. ==Early life and education== Born at Oare House in Oare, Marlborough, Wiltshire, the home of his maternal grandparents Colonel George and Mrs Cowling. Born Thomas George Welby, his father Reginald Earle Welby and mother Elizabeth (née Cowling) divorced in September 1870. In July 1872, Elizabeth married John Charles Rudman and Thomas George adopted the surname of his step-father, which he subsequently used throughout his life. Rudman was educated at Eton College as an Oppidan Scholar and became House Captain of Godolphin House. After leaving Eton, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he read History. He inherited the title 2nd Baron Welby following the death of his natural father, Baron Welby in October 1915.〔http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com〕
